"Better Dead Than Red" is a short satire aimed at fears that captivated and consumed 1950’s Cold War-era America. Portrayed in the style of a propaganda news reel, subjects such as fear of communism, the “birth” of the pledge of allegiance, and the race for space are explored with sarcastic urgency. Completed for less than $1500, "Better Dead Than Red" is a testament to the spirit and creativity of independent filmmaking.
