A film that unites two solitary figures by the magical aspects of light and space. The story unveils the hidden life of Benoit, a lonely artist afflicted with extreme photo sensitivity — forcing him to lead a hermit-like existence indoors near total darkness.
"Obscura" opens the hidden life of Benoit - a man trapped by extreme photosensitivity...a hermit, plunged indoors near total darkness. How can such a being share in the richness of life? The answer is the traces of light flowing through several self-made pinhole cameras (camera obscuras), used to project images of his beloved Cecil, the woman across the street.
Benoit's very existence depends on these images, and he loves Cecil unrequitedly. Yet today, Cecil has decided to take her own life. As she prepares her final routine, Benoit’s finely tuned antennas pick up distressing signals from Cecil’s behavior, and he must now choose between being the shadowed voyeur or the lover he really is and risk his life in the sunlight to save Cecil.
