The Serpent's Kiss

In this handsome Victorian period piece, Ewan MacGregor plays Meneer Chrome, a Dutch architect hired by nobleman Thomas Smithers (the always excellent Pete Postlethwaite) to re-design the garden at his gorgeous wife Juliana's secluded country estate. The instructions for the re-design come from the scheming Fitzmaurice (devilishly played by Richard E. Grant), whose true aim is to destroy Smithers financially, and steal away with Juliana, with whom he had an affair in his youth. But Juliana has plans of her own as she sets her sights on seducing the young architect.
