Quirt Evans (John Wayne) is as bad as they come. That is, until he becomes injured and is nursed back to health by a quaker girl named Penelope Worth (Gail Russell). Quirt must ultimately choose between his familiar but dark past or a bright yet wholesome future with the loving Penelope. Potentially one of John Wayne's most romantic Westerns and the first film produced by John Wayne.
