One of my favorites. I saw this movie when it came out in the late 70's and the wee romantic in me swooned for Warren Beatty and Julie Christie. It also sparked awe for Dyan Cannon who makes hysteria look fabulous in a big blonde updo. (Note: If Heaven snatches me before my time, please oh please don't let me return to Earth as a football player).

Definitely in the 'must see' category. Fabulously eerie. Confirms all those uneasy feelings about casseroles, surburbia and people who always look perfectly coifed in the frozen food section.

So enjoyed this film -- it was wonderful. I felt like I had been plopped down at the salon and got to know these women over the din of hair dryers and the smell of acetone. The story lines unfolded without feeling too heavy handed or tidy. And it felt a very genuine reflection of the mix of tradition and freedom for modern-
day women in Lebanon.

I once heard that "some have the pain, but not the talent. some have the talent, but not the pain.'" Bukowski had both in spades. After all the words and the reputation, it is good to hear from the man himself in this film, particularly as he shouts "one more beer and I'll take you all!"

Hasselhoff fans: If you can't get enough of him sauntering down a beach in a red swimsuit, you''ll be downright stunned to see him on the run in Alberta with a 10-
gallon hat. So hot they couldn't even rate the movie.
