I have to say I watched this originally because of Rajat Kapoor and Manisha Koirala. I had just seen Rajat Kapoor in Mixed Doubles and I truly like a lot of work from Manisha Koirala (She has received critical acclaim for Khamoshi, Bombay, Dil Se, Akele Hum Akele Tum).
Most of the performances turned out to be average - with Karan Nath (as the obsessed younger man) almost painful to watch. I think Rajat Kapoor did a decent job, but found Manisha Koirala unconvincing as an unsatisfied wife being stalked by a crazed and jilted one night stand. She looks like a deer caught in the headlights.
The movie turned from a "Summer of '42" plot to a murder mystery. Quite the change of events. You almost have to see the film to understand the confusion and frustration you can experience when things go badly in a script.
Solid and seasoned actors that Koirala and Kapoor are, they couldn't carry the film.
This is a great study in how a script and direciton can profoundly affect the performances turned out by an actor. Compare Manisha Koirala in Akele Hum Akele Tum to her here and you understand the power of a director. |

The action scenes are well executed and reminiscent of the Matrix style wire-aided stunts.
It does go over the top at times, but we expect that in a Bollywood film just as we expect the requisite song and dance numbers, the love story and the beautiful women. |
