Waiting For The Clouds

The unlikely friendship between Aysheh, an elderly Turkish woman (Ruchan Caliskur) and Mehmet, an eight-year-old Greek orphan (Ridvan Yagci), living on Turkey's Black Sea coast forms the basis for this tender and remarkable drama on themes both personal and national in scale. Ayesheh has looked after her widowed sister for years, but when the latter dies, Ayesheh finds herself haunted increasingly by memories of her war-torn childhood, which she's long kept suppressed. But the sweet and illuminating friendship that she forms with Mehmet, a boy whose struggles parallels her own, gives Ayesheh the strength to face down the demons that have long haunted her, and undertake a long-anticipated and arduous journey back to her own homeland.
