Cult Japanese filmmaker Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale) offers a compellingly offbeat tale of the end of the world. A deadly virus annihilates almost all life on Earth. The remaining survivors are gathered on an Arctic research base, and find their existence once again threatened by an imminent earthquake. Virus offers a vision of world destruction as insane as any other 1970s disaster movie, but Fukasaku delivers the action with a steady hand. (NOTE: this is the 108-minute International version of the film.)

Virus (復活の日 Fukkatsu no hi?), literally Day of Resurrection is a 1980 post-apocalyptic science fiction movie directed by Kinji Fukasaku and based on a novel written by Sakyo Komatsu. The movie starred Masao Kusakari, George Kennedy, Robert Vaughn, Chuck Connors, Olivia Hussey, Edward James Olmos, Ken Ogata, Sonny Chiba and Glenn Ford. The film is notable for being the most expensive Japanese film ever made at the time.
