After seven years in college, the degree-less Van Wilder (Ryan Reynolds) is the king of partying. When his father decides to stop paying his tuition, Wilder hatches a scheme to make money throwing increasingly debauched parties. Wilder's ever-increasing hedonism soon attracts the attention of Gwen (Tara Reid), a comely student journalist. The resulting article places Wilder at a crossroads, where he must confront his unspoken fears and do the unthinkable: graduate. The jokes never stop, and Reynolds is charming in the title role.

National Lampoon's Van Wilder (also known as Van Wilder, Van The Man and Van Wilder: Party Liaison) is a 2002 comedy movie directed by Walt Becker that stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character. The film also stars Kal Penn, Tara Reid and Daniel Cosgrove. It features the first acting role for Sophia Bush. Van Wilder is supposedly loosely based on the collegiate life of comedian Bert Kreischer.
