European Film Awards—Discovery of the Year (Aksel Hennie)
"Definitely one of the best Norwegian films in some time."—The Fresh Site
Set in inner-city Oslo, Uno is a powerful drama about David (writer-director Aksel Hennie), a twenty-five-year-old with few prospects for the future. His days are spent hanging around a gym mostly populated by petty criminals. At home, David's father is terminally ill, his brother is mentally handicapped, and he's unable to connect with his mother. David's problems multiply when the police raid his gym, and he finds himself torn between allegiance to his family and loyalty to his friends. Balancing gritty visuals with powerhouse performances, Uno marks the moving filmmaking debut of one of Norway's biggest stars.
