A retired Captain Kirk disappears into a mysterious force of energy called the Nexus during a rescue mission. Eighty years later, new Enterprise Captain Picard and his crew run afoul of a madman (Malcolm McDowell) willing to destroy entire planets to re-enter the Nexus. The action is as exciting as ever, and the scenes uniting the two Captains are a joy.
