Buster Keaton is a reserved and bookish college professor who inherits a vast sum of money. A sudden windfall enables the professor to follow his heart, bankrolling a theatre company that employs a comely young dancer who’s caught his eye. Speak Easily offers a different side of Keaton than his silent films, but there’s still much for classic comedy fans to enjoy, including a hilarious drunken courtship between Keaton and Thelma Todd and a stunt-filled climax that (quite literally) brings the house down.
