A beautiful romance is interrupted by struggle when Martin (Sven Wollter) is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. A touching and tragic story that reaches perfection because the Scandinavians know how to milk tragedy without getting too sentimental. Barbara (Viveka Seldahl) was married to Wollter in real life and died after this film, really bringing the tragedy to heart.

Smilla's Sense of Snow is a 1997 mystery/thriller/science fiction film directed by Bille August, based on the book Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow (original Danish title: Frøken Smillas fornemmelse for sne) a 1992 novel by Danish author Peter Høeg. It stars Julia Ormond, Gabriel Byrne, Tom Wilkinson, Jim Broadbent, Robert Loggia and Richard Harris.
