Three Brooklyn adolescents, two brothers and a pregnant, paint-sniffing girl, are in a panic to escape their problems and their toxic Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood. Although they have no destination, they steal a car and drive through the night. At dawn they find themselves along a stretch of coastline, with teeming natural beauty as alien to them as another planet. Breaking into a comfortable and fully stocked vacation house, the threesome creates a fantasy home and a surrogate family.
