A Sicilian hitman’s assignment quickly turns into an existential quest in this quiet, dreamy film from Mika Kaurismäki. Rosso doesn’t balk when his latest assignment turns out to be Marja, a Finnish girl that he loves. But when Rosso arrives in Helsinki, Marja is nowhere to be found. Allying himself with Marja’s brother Martti, Rosso travels across Finland in search of his target. Kaurismäki mainstay Kari Väänänen plays the title role, and co-wrote the bizarre, award-winning screenplay.
