A family on a vacation in New Zealand starts to break apart. Kate (Sarah Peirse) drinks away her desires and problems she has with her husband, Ed (Alistair Browning). Ed tries to bond with his kids and his daughter Janey (Alicia Fulford-Wierzbicki) senses the turmoil in her family and also her budding sexuality. As Janey becomes aware that men desire her, things take an unexpected turn.

Rain is a 2001 New Zealand made film directed by Christine Jeffs. A debut film by Jeffs, it was released in 2001 in New Zealand and an international release in 2002. It concerns the coming of age of 13-year-old Janey, and is based on the novel Rain written by Kirsty Gunn.
