In Protagonist, Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Jessica Yu (In The Realms Of The Unreal; Ping Pong Playa) turns her attention to the compelling stories of four extremists: German terrorist Hans-Joachim Klein; bank robber Joe Loya; "ex-gay" evangelist Mark Pierpont; and martial artist Mark Salzman. Connecting its subjects’ tales through puppetry and other tools of Greek tragedy, Protagonist examines the extremes to which these four individuals were driven, as well as their struggles to overcome their circumstances.
