One of the most famous and notorious incidents in British history is vividly dramatized in this historical drama. In 1483, 12-year-old King Edward V and his brother Richard, Duke of York, disappeared and were presumed murdered. Eight years later, a young man returned to England claiming to be Richard, and fought to reclaim his throne. Princes in the Tower offers one version of the story of this young man, the impostor Perkin Warbeck, as he makes his final case on trial in the Tower of London.

The Princes in the Tower, Edward V of England (November 4, 1470 – 1483?) and his brother, Richard of Shrewsbury, 1st Duke of York (17 August 1473 – 1483?), were the only sons of Edward IV of England and Elizabeth Woodville. They disappeared without a trace from the Tower of London in 1483. Both princes were declared illegitimate by an Act of Parliament of 1483 known as Titulus Regius.
