The career of filmmaker Jane Campion (Sweetie, The Piano) began auspiciously when this nine-minute short won a Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. The film begins modestly with a boy throwing orange peels from the back of the family car. When his father turns around to discipline the youth, the conflict quickly escalates, lifting the deceptively modest film from the idyllic countryside into more raw and dangerous territory.
