Since childhood, May has been ostracized and left in the company of her best friend-- a porcelain doll forever contained in a glass case. Now an adult, May (played with stunning eccentricity by Angela Bettis) attempts to reach out for contact with anyone she can; a local mechanic (Jeremy Sisto), her lesbian co-worker (Anna Faris), and even complete strangers. May comes to discover that people are often less than the sum of their parts, and that she'll have to go to extreme lengths to make a friend. So to speak.
