Dressing and acting like an English bureaucrat, Francis Massey feels he is closer to the British colonialists than he is to his Indian heritage, even though he continually dreams of marrying Saila, a beautiful local woman. But when the new Deputy High Commissioner arrives, he discovers that Massey is corrupt, putting a serious damper on the young Indian’s British aspirations.
