Brilliant performances by a top-notch international cast distinguish this tender, sensitively played story of how friendship can help weather the storms of life's toughest lessons. Ten-year-old James (Cody Morgan) retreats into the safety of his boyhood fantasies, unable to cope with his mother Katie's descent into madness. Nastassja Kinski delivers among her best performances as Katie as does the excellent Robert Forster playing a boat-builder determined to sail around the world, and whose friendship with James helps the boy brave his changing realities face to face.
