Stanley Donen (Singin’ In The Rain, Charade) adapts the classic fable by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, crafting a remarkable (and offbeat) musical suitable for children and adults. A pilot (Richard Kiley) is stranded in the desert, where he meets The Little Prince, a mysterious (and very young) traveler. The Little Prince’s tales of the colorful characters encountered on his travels (rendered with terrific Lerner & Loewe songs) engage the Pilot, confronting him with his life decisions and, crucially, his regrets.

The Little Prince is a 1974 musical film with a screenplay and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. It proved to be the creative team's penultimate collaboration (they would reunite to write extra songs for a stage-version of Gigi).
