Continuing from Taxi Driver and American Gigolo, writer/director Paul Schrader crafts another compelling study of a lonely working man at a dangerous crossroads. Willem Dafoe is at his best as John LeTour, a former addict who delivers drugs to an upscale clientele. When his boss (Susan Sarandon) announces her intentions to quit the business, John is suddenly faced with an empty future. Sam Rockwell and David Spade play bit parts.
