This two-part anime feature combines an intricate, mythic storyline with cutting-edge 2-D and 3-D animation: the result is one of the most popular anime features ever made. The story begins as the Karas, a demon charged with maintaining the peace between humans and demons, rebels, and brings together an army of mechanized demons to conquer the Earth. Representing the will of humanity, the guardian spirit Yurine recruits a young man named Otoha to become the new Karas.

Karas (鴉－KARAS－, Karasu?, lit. The Raven) is a six-part original video animation. Tatsunoko Production produced it to commemorate its 40th anniversary of anime production. Each Karas episode was first televised in Japan as a pay-per-view program from March 25, 2005, to August 3, 2007, before being released onto DVDs. Manga Entertainment compiled and released these episodes as two feature length, direct-to-DVD films for the English market.
