Irreversible

Gaspar Noé’s provocative and intense film is as formally audacious as it is repellently violent. Irreversible examines the events of a traumatic night in Paris, but the events unfold in reverse: two men kill another in a seedy nightclub; we see the act of violence that prompted the man's murder; and we go back further still. Irreversible is at once a sickening portrait of violence and a somber, even moving, meditation on the destructive passage of time.
