"Must see! 'Invisible' isn't always easy to watch, but Bojanov's film is so compelling you just can't turn away." -- The New York Post "Humane, unsentimental, eye-opening." -- Christian Science Monitor "...undeniably compelling..." -- The Onion A.V. Club
After returning to his native Bulgaria in 2000, eleven years after the fall of the Iron Curtain, New York filmmaker Konstantin Bojanov was shocked to find that a virtual epidemic of heroin addiction, almost unheard of during communist rule, had descended upon his country. With cheap street heroin and other drugs becoming readily available, they eventually wormed their way directly into mainstream Bulgarian society. Over a span of three years, Bojanov periodically filmed six addicts and their stories, some of them desperate and sad, others hopeful, sometimes even mildly redemptive. But regardless of what his camera records, Bajanov refuses to judge; that's ultimately for the viewer to decide.
