Young history student, Nan Barlow, journeys to the mysterious town of Whitewood, Massachusetts upon the urging of her professor (Christopher Lee) to continue her studies on the life of the long-dead witch, Elizabeth Selwyn. When she arrives during the celebration of Candlemass, she encounters a village full of Pagans under the spell of the reincarnated Elizabeth, who want Nan for their holiday sacrifice.
