"...a passionate and intermittently pleasing attempt to show the real Mexico...in which crudeness of style and of subject are perfectly matched." -- Variety
In the days before The Day of the Dead holiday, Pachuco returns to his home town of Patzcuaro, in the Mexican state of Michoacan. After thirty years, his arrival is nothing like the hero's welcome he had always envisioned. An old flame is now married, many long-time friends have died, and those who remain, like his friend Chavita, display the ravages of tequila abuse. "El Agujero" is an arresting portrait of a society that ironically honors those who have passed on, while ignoring the ones who are among the living dead.
