California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger made his motion picture debut in this unusual comedy actioner. Petulant demigod Hercules (Schwarzenegger, naturally) leaves Mount Olympus to head for the big city. Hercules’ companions in his New York adventures include a meek pretzel vendor and the smitten daughter of a college professor. The demigod’s challenges include bodybuilding competitions, cinematic imitators, and a fugitive bear on the loose in Central Park, all of which are met by the high spirits and glistening pectoral muscles of the mighty Hercules!

Hercules in New York, originally known as Hercules Goes Bananas, is a 1970 fantasy adventure film. It is known for being the first feature film to star Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was about 23 years old when the film was produced. It is one of the films that Arnold Schwarznegger admits regretting.
