Hard Luck

Trevor "Lucky" O'Donnell, explosive yet charismatic, escapes after seven years in a state mental hospital just 88 days before his scheduled release. His escape is instigated by a visit from his childhood sweetheart, Sheryl, where she divulges that his best friend, Eric, her brother, is rapidly dying of cancer. Arriving in his hometown in a stolen car, Lucky finds a despairing Eric fading in a hospital room and impulsively, they decide to journey to the island where they all spent the best summers of their childhood. Pursued by Sheryl, Eric's father, the Gold Beach Chief of Police, and Sheryl’s cop husband, the pair desperately attempt to make it to the island. Once there, they are located by Sheryl and the three rediscover their passion and friendship, while being confronted by the biggest realization that life has to offer: death.
