In 1980, at the samba school of Mangueira - one of the biggest in Rio de Janeiro - homage was paid to one of the icons of Brazilian soccer: Garrincha!
Through the music, the eroticism, and the carnival lights, we see how this forty-six year old soccer player is carried in an allegorical chariot, especially designed for him, even though he is not as glorious as this magical atmosphere might suggest. He has just been released from an alcohol rehabilitation center, and the "medication" that enables him to stand makes him appear lost and dejected.
In this brilliant frame, the character who is being profiled will become the legend of the town, the man that from nothing reaches the world with his "feet." The real carnival blends with the one of his life in which he triumphs, and past glories are placed opposite his most intimate problems and defeats.
Through the steps of the parade, his own history is a journey with his friends and lovers. The memories are blended with the dance, and the image of a delirious hero that at the World Cup in Chile in 1962, gave Brazil the joy of winning its second World Cup - catapulting him as a champion of world soccer.
