"For a long time, I have been a big fan of the arthouse-erotica cinema, by such directors as Peter Greenaway and David Lynch. Hence, after I finished my first DV short, which was an innocent and innocuous coming-of-age romantic comedy, it was natural for me to write a script for an erotica film. I also needed to give some internal resolution to a couple of my previous, unsuccessful relationships, which became inspirational sources to create and develop a married bisexual couple, Amber and Norman, in FLUID. The film examines a failing process of their relationship through emotional and sexual interactions, involving the third person, diabolic young female, Zoe. Aesthetically, I designed the film as homage to the French New Wave directors such as Alain Resnais and Jean-Luc Godard, and superb cinematographer Sean Glassman meticulously realized it. As for music, I picked up and digitally manipulated my own compositions from my conservatory days; as a whole, FLUID has become a comprehensive compilation of my creative career at the present time." -Yusuke
