Singer Johnny Cash made an intriguing feature acting debut with this noir-inflected thriller. Cash is Johnny Cabot, a dangerous criminal engaged in a blackmailing partnership. Cabot takes hostage Nancy Wilson (Cay Forrester), the wife of bank manager Ken Wilson (Donald Woods). Wilson has five minutes to pay a $70,000 ransom to save Nancy's life. But Wilson has been planning to escape to Las Vegas with his mistress, and grows tempted to leave Nancy in Cabot's hands. Made for the grindhouse exploitation circuit of the early 60s, Five Minutes To Live is an intense and sweaty ride.
