This earthy but delightful movie is a rare gem of a family film.Talented young newcomer Joseph Ashton is Little Tree, an eight-year-old boy orphaned during the Great Depression. He moves in with his grandparents (James Cromwell and Tantoo Cardinal), and learns to embrace his Cherokee heritage even as he comes to realize his outsider status. Excellent performances and breathtaking cinematography boost this moving, powerful story.
