The Dress

A single dress changes hands from one woman to another, from all walks of life, rich and poor. From an aging socialite past her prime, to younger women who arouse the nearest men to wild lust, on to a street-dweller for whom the dress is a means to stay warm, not announce status or amp up sex appeal. In this way, director Alex van Warmerdam ingeniously creates a vast social canvas that's as lust-filled and comedic as it is richly perceptive, baring naked an entire spectrum of modern Dutch society.
