General George Custer's defeat at Little Big Horn is dramatically depicted...on a building site in 1970s Paris. Using many absurd and modernist methods to comment on America's past and present, filmmaker/provocateur Marco Ferreri crafts a decidedly surreal take on American westerns, and launches a full-on satiric assault on the politics of the Vietnam War. Most bewildering, perhaps, is the all-star cast, including Marcello Mastroianni as Custer, Catherine Deneuve as Marie-Hélène de Boismonfrais, and Ugo Tognazzi (La Cage Aux Folles) in a surprisingly moving turn as Sioux scout Mitch Bouyer.

Don't Touch The White Woman! is a 1974 French/Italian farce, an absurd "Western" set in Paris, directed by Marco Ferreri. Marcello Mastroianni stars as a vain General George Armstrong Custer. Richard Nixon is the American president. Buffalo Bill Cody (Michel Piccoli) is here portrayed as a charlatan media impresario. Ugo Tognazzi gives a fictional portrayal of Mitch Bouyer one of Custer's Native American scouts, who runs a curio shop selling Native artifacts made in sweatshops by white women. Alain Cuny plays Sitting Bull who must defend his people when their homes (apartment buildings) are destroyed by the Union Cavalry...
