Shah Rukh Khan is Amar Varma, a news editor who falls in love with the mysterious Mengha (Manisha Koirala) while probing a separatist movement in northeast India. When they meet again in Delhi, both must choose between love and duty. Mani Ratnam’s film is both earthy and ethereal, combining a journalistic look at modern India’s political difficulties with a poetic and timeless love story.
