Patrick Coyle's directing debut is a smart, funny, heartfelt drama about Jack (Coyle) and Jennifer (Mo Collins of Showtime's "Californication"), a husband and wife fumbling to mend their tattered marriage. As Jennifer reaches out to other men for fulfillment, Jack resorts to writing his detective novel, a process that blurs his sense of reality and fiction as he confronts his fears and desires, even striking up a too-close-for-comfort rapport with his own therapist. Excellent seriocomic performances, and a style that combines hard-boiled mystery with marital drama make this a true American original.
