Young talents Sonali Bendre and Akshaye Khanna enliven this Bollywood drama centering on a Hindu-Muslim romance. Bendre is Neelima, the daughter of a conservative Muslim family. When she encounters young Hindu Sameer (Khanna), they are instantly smitten, united by their shared dream of becoming doctors. But when Neelima’s staunch and angry uncle returns from prison, he immediately forbids their marriage. Neelima and Sameer vow to run away, and a fiery conflict between Hindus and Muslims erupts in their wake.
