A Calcutta writer (Anjan Dutt) escapes to an historic old mansion in search of inspiration, and strikes up an enticing relationship with a mysterious woman (Dimple Kapadia). Their contact is limited to the phone, as she calls him anonymously, revealing herself to be the lonely mistress of a wealthy, neglectful lover. Slowly, with Sen's precise direction, an intimacy takes root that startles both of them to the core.
