Bludren

The work evolved through exploration of the relationships of ecological systems of self-sustainment, and the often bizarre interactions found in nature and proposed in literature and theory, specifically rituals related to the mandrake plant. In this 2D/3D hand-painted computer animation, female vampire twins lead an androgynous creature, Gladdie the worrier, to a mysterious world and to the revered mandrake plant. In ritualistic fashion, a famished dog is sacrificed for the human-like plant so that its root will bring good fortune and companionship to the lonely Gladdie. Transferring the plant to her home within a large flower, Gladdie attempts to tame the mandrake. When she concludes that she cannot transform or tame the plant, her encounter becomes transcendental...
