Set in 1527 Rome, Massimo Colonna is in love with a member of his arch enemy's family, Angela. Unfortunately, her fiancee, Tancredi Serra, has Massimo falsely accused of murdering Prince Orsi, and has him banned from Rome. Meanwhile, Rome is under attack from Spain and will fall, but Massimo and his troops return to defend their city!
