Quirt Evans (John Wayne) is as bad as they come. That is, until he becomes injured and is nursed back to health by a quaker girl named Penelope Worth (Gail Russell). Quirt must ultimately choose between his familiar but dark past or a bright yet wholesome future with the loving Penelope. Angel and the Badman is a 1947 black and white Western film, starring John Wayne and Gail Russell, which examines the ability of a shootist to renounce violence. This film, which was the first one Wayne produced as well as starred in, was a radical departure for this genre at the time it was released. It is now in the public domain and is downloadable from the Internet Archive.
