When nine year-old Addison’s father kills himself, all the color suddenly drains out of the young boy’s world. Addison’s mother, unable to console him, moves them to a small town in Oregon, hoping the change of scenery will help her son better deal with his grief and begin again. It doesn’t. Withdrawing further, Addison stops talking and sequesters himself in his room, where underneath his father's blanket he's tacked to the wall, the boy scribbles his innermost thoughts, fears, and desires, searching for a pathway out of the darkness.
