Chao is a young small town fighter sent to study martial arts under the tutelage of a kung fu master. As he hones his skills, he's embroiled in a conflict with a rival martial arts school that comes to a head during an important tournament. An immediate success that spawned a craze for martial arts cinema in America, 5 Fingers of Death (seen here in the English-dubbed version that premiered on American screens) established the template and the tropes of kung fu cinema as we know it.
