For Northern Californians, the San Francisco Film Society is showcasing some of the best works of cinema coming out of France over the last decade.
It's not an overwhelming but a very choice selection of films that focuses on the current crop of Gallic talent, such as Mathieu Amalric (soon to be seen in the next edition of James Bond, "Quantum of Solace"), Arnaud Deplechin (screenwriter and director with a wily sense of humor) and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (the French president's sister-in-law!).
Of course, you can get your fill of Grande Dame Catherine Deneuve too by catching the opening night screening of "A Christmas Tale."
