The selection at the Milano Film Festival seems like a real local affair, with some hard-to-get global independents. (I'm also betting the gastronomical offering will be far richer there than at Sundance.)
After scanning their program list, I am very curious to see "Godless America". If you do wind up attending this festival, please share your impressions about any of these titles and the festival itself . . . Milan in September is out of the question for me but direct reportage is the next best alternative!
