Having once been a member of a RHPS cast during my formative years, having seen it on the big screen 114 times, having bought both the RHPS and Shock Treatment VHS cassettes for WAAAAY too much money when they were only available via the rental only or bootleg market, this is just so messed up. A non-Shock Treatment sequel called "return of the Queen' with some role reprisal by Tim Curry has been rumored for YEARS now... what's happened to that script? If they want to bank on Richard O'Briend and the RHPS franchise at least give us something new. Jeez.
This has to be stopped. I may not be one of the rabid fans out there, but I appreciate the film and it's place in history enough to know that any crappy remake will only cheapen it. Can you imagine who these studio-types would cast?! I can see it now: Shia LaAnnoying as Brad, Miley Cyrus as Janet, Paris Hilton as Columbia, Lindsay Lohan as Magenta, Keanu Reeves as Riff Raff and Tom Cruise as Frank-N-Furter. Shoot me now.
Ok -- RHPS was a terrible movie. It was only made fun to watch because of the audience and the special nature of seeing it at midnight -- when you were in Jr. High.
A remake is doomed to fail, because the people who hold a special place for it in their hearts, will boycott and for the rest of the world, its just a bad movie.
