When you download a film from Jaman, pieces of it can come from the Jaman servers directly or from other Jaman members. This way, you get the movie files from the fastest source.
All of this is fast, efficient, secure, and anonymous. Plus, you should never notice when parts of a film are being uploaded from your computer, even during the Beta.
After all, high definition cinema translates into big files (a 2-hour film is approximately 2GB). We want to keep great film affordable and accessible. The Jaman Network allows that to happen.
The Jaman Network runs on your computer in background as "jamdownloader.exe." We are working now on bringing that to the surface with a tray icon for the PC and (possibly) a Dock icon for the Mac.

That's one thing we're considering, but it may or may not make it into the first version as changing the way we set up the Player is a big job already. We'll do our best to get it in.
I have to completely agree with that suggestion. I am in the process of downloading a film. At least I think I am. The ethernet light is blinking like crazy which tells me that it is doing something. But where I am in the download process is impossible to tell. Some sort of progress bar seems to me to be a must-have.
There is a very good download progress indicator in the library. When you select a film to download, however, if you are new to Jaman, you may not think to check the library to see progress.
When you start the download, you can go to your library and see how much of the file has been downloaded and how long we estimate it will take. Plus, we're working on making this even better soon.
I notice lag in my internet connection while playing online games (Like Counter Strike). I hope there will be a way to disable the downloader service from within the viewer.
Thanks, this is a great idea. I hope you guys can take this far.
We definitely want to know if you're seeing a lag at all! It will help greatly if you can help us out with some information:
What platform are you on? (PC or Mac)
Which operating system and the version?
What kind of processor and how much memory do you have?
What kind of connection are you using?

x_maddybabu_x, first start off by downloading the Jaman Player and installing it. Then browse through our selections, and when you find a movie you want, click thy 'I Want It' button. That's pretty much all there is to it, but let me know if you want more step-by-step instructions.
To calculate the download speed in your case, please see our FAQ, especially item #2 at:

If you are relatively new to the Jaman site, it's actually a good idea to review the entire FAQ and the sticky titled "UPDATES: Common Questions & Quick Answers" at:
